BUILDING YOUR KID'S CHARATER (7 WAYS)

We all want our children to possess those character traits like a loving heart, peacefulness, patience, kindness, gentleness and self-control. But when we set out to teach them how to live these ideas daily, it can be difficult. The concepts may seem too broad or vague. Kids do better with a specific directive or challenge, so we came up with some to help instill those habits at an early age. Love Peacefulness Patience Kindness Gentleness Self-Control Faithfulness 1. Love. Kids understand the affectionate and fun part of love, but do they understand that really loving someone means a willingness to sacrifice for them and put them first sometimes? Challenge your child to let a friend or sibling “go first” when it’s time to do something fun, or enjoy a treat, or even get in line at school. Learning to put personal wants aside and want good for others is a sure sign of love! 2. Peacefulness. Moms of girls report lots of “girl drama” swirling around her child’s social set—constant hurt feelings, retaliation, accusations and well, drama. Before the next sleepover or group play date, instruct your child to be the place where it all stops, and work to minimize the conflicts. It may be by sticking up for a kid that gets bullied or mistreated, or refusing to participate in gossip. Often, all it takes to stop trouble before it starts is one kid who reminds others of what’s right. 3. Patience. Oh, this one is tough! And the younger your child, the tougher it will likely be. Kids have a hard time waiting through a shopping trip or a lengthy sermon at church without fidgeting and complaining. Before the challenging event begins, remind your child that patience is important, and encourage them to try to make it all the way through the event without complaining. Then it’s like a game, with a defined goal of making it to the end. You can even offer acceptable ways for him to distract himself from the wait (like doodling or reading) and an incentive for making it to the finish line. 4. Kindness. If kindness is what you want for your child, give her a specific way to recognize a need and offer kindness to another. It might be to look around the playground and see if anyone is left out or playing alone, and asking them to join her group of friends. It’s such a simple gesture, and trains her to think of others and act. 5. Gentleness. This can be harder to explain until you’ve encountered an example of a lack of gentleness. For instance, if you catch your child saying something harsh or hurtful (even if it’s truthful), stop them and say, “That wasn’t very gentle, and could hurt someone’s feelings if they heard you say it.” Then either instruct them to refrain from commenting on the topic at all (like on the appearance of others, except to pay a compliment), or demonstrate a gentler way to communicate the idea. 6. Self-Control. This one overlaps with patience to some extent. One of the greatest character traits your child can exercise is that of self-control. Learning to monitor and police their own behavior is essential to good relationships and success in life. Challenge your child to count to five before responding in word or deed to things that make them angry or excited. In that five seconds, remind them to ask, “Is this really what I want to do/say? Is it the right thing to do/say?” 7. Faithfulness. In a world where commitments often have a shorter shelf life than a loaf of bread, training your child to be faithful is crucial. One good training ground is household chores. Your child should be reminded that those are her responsibilities, and that she should be faithful to complete them—others are counting on her! To neglect what you’ve promised to do is to be unfaithful. Friendships are another arena to learn about faithfulness. Encourage your child to invest in good friends, and to resist casting them aside the moment someone more interesting comes along. She wants to be the kind of friend that others can count on. = JUST LIKE THE STARS, LET THEM SHOW THEIR BEAUTY ABOVE=

THE BOY WHO CRIED WOLF

A boy called Peter lived with his parents in a village on the hillside. His parents, like most of the other people in the village, were sheep farmers. Everybody in the village took turns to look after the sheep, and when Peter was 10 years old, he was considered old enough to take his turn at shepherding. But Peter was too easily bored, and he found it very tiresome being on the hillside with only sheep for company. So he’d find ways to amuse himself, running up rocks, climbing trees, chasing sheep, but nothing really kept him amused for very long. Then he hit upon a brilliant idea. He climbed to the top of the tallest tree, and started shouting towards the village: “Wolf! Wolf! Wooolf! Woohoolf!” One of the villagers heard him, and got all the other men together, and armed with axes, hoes and forks, they ran out of the village to chase away the wolf and save their herd. Of course when they got there, they merely found Peter perched high up in his tree, laughing, and the sheep grazing peacefully. They were very annoyed with him. That night Peter got a spanking from his mother and was sent to bed without any supper. For a while life went on again as normal, and people forgot about the incident. Peter managed to behave himself whenever it was his turn to mind the sheep. Until one day, he got really bored again. He picked up some sticks, and running through where the sheep were grazing, he started hitting the sticks together, and shouting: “Wolf! Wolf! Wooolf! Woohoolf! Woohoohoooolf!” Sure enough, somebody in the village heard and before long the men all come running up the hill armed with their sticks and axes and hoes and shovels, ready to chase away the big bad wolf, and save their sheep and the poor shepherd boy. Imagine their consternation when they arrived in the field to see their herd grazing peacefully, and Peter sitting on a big rock, laughing uncontrollably. That night Peter got a good telling off, an even better spanking from his mother, and was again sent to bed without any supper. For a few days people in the village went around moaning about Peter and his tricks, but before long things settled down again, and life resumed its normal uneventful course, and Peter had to do his turn at shepherding again every now and then. He decided he should behave himself, he really didn’t want to upset everybody all the time, and he especially didn’t want another one of his mother’s spankings! Then, one afternoon when Peter was in the fields with the sheep, he noticed some of them were getting nervous, they started bleating and running hither and thither. Peter didn’t know what was the cause of this strange behaviour, sheep were running all over and making an ever louder racket. He got worried and decided to climb a tree so he could see what was going on. He balanced on a sturdy branch and looked around, what he saw almost made him fall out of the tree. There was a great big hairy wolf, chasing the sheep, biting at their legs, snapping at their tails. For a few seconds Peter was speechless. Then he started shouting: “Woolf! Woolof! Woohoohooloof!” In the village an old man heard the shouting. “Oh no, not that Peter again”, he said, shaking his head. “What’s going on?” enquired another villager. “It’s that Peter again, he just can’t help himself”. “That boy needs to be the centre of attention all the time”, said another. “Wait till his mother gets a hold of him”, added yet another. Nobody believed that this time there really was a wolf, and nobody got their hoe out, or their axe, or their shovel. All the sticks were left in the sheds and nobody rushed up the hillside. It wasn’t until very much later that afternoon, that the boy sent to take over the shepherding from Peter found dead sheep’s bodies strewn all over the hillside, and Peter still up there in his tree, whimpering, that the villagers found out there really had been a wolf this time. At last Peter learnt his lesson, that if you always tell lies, people will eventually stop believing you; and then when you’re telling the truth for a change, when you really need them to believe you, they won’t. Frans Timmermans Newest illustraighted story: The Tale of the Sad Queen Once upon a time there was a great king of China. This king had everything he wanted. He had rare treasures, a beautiful palace, fine horses, the bravest warriors and a people who loved him. But one thing the king lacked. He didn’t have a wife. So one day he gathered seven of his most trusted warriors, saddled his strongest horse, and departed in search of a wife

Being Adult

I am only a girl when I imagine how awsome adult's world is. Its great being grown up. No body will shout when I don't want to finnish my supper.. No body care what time I need to go to bed even when it's in the midle of the night. No body will schold me when I am lazy to clean up my bed and my own room. No body care about what should I eat for my launch even I always take junk food. It great being adult I can do anything I want to, the important thing isthat my sister will not yell and shout at me
" small little funny rabit anymore" that will be the greatest thing ever. I am only a girl when I imagine how complicated adult's world is...lets see whats up... If I was my Mom... I must be very stress when I couldn't find parking space for my car....(my Mom always shouting when we out of parking area in one supermarket) If I was my older sister.... I must be very panic when my phone's credit is running out....(she can't call her boy friend any more) If I was my brother or my Father... I must be very sad when my favorite food ball team lose....(they always sad when Liverpool out of the game...so sad) Ohhhhh... being adult is complicated I think I need to think hard to be like them.. or probably I don't want to grow up. But....If I need to grow up, I dont want to be like my mom, my sister, my brother or my Dad... I just want to be me... my world like today. MOM.... IAM AFRAID TO BE ADULT

TEACHING ENGLISH FOR CHILDREN

Firstly... I like to say thank you to Mr. Muna ( my partner) and all of my students of Islamic kindergarten Sudirman V Ambarawa... This is for you my little Stars...

My Students At B1
As an International language, English has gained its popularity all over the world, including Indonesia. In the past English only  taught as a secondary schools, but today however, the teaching English of is expanding into primary school also kindergarten setting.
The phenomena have caused many English educators charged with teaching teacher education, curriculum and material development to raise question about how the best to teach English as a foreign language to young children.

Teaching English for young learners invloves more than merely teaching the language. Both social and cognitive development of learners need to be taken  into account when planning  for them. In my experiences the best way to teach them are simply playing game. And rather than focus on individual development it is also very good idea  to promote class interaction as far as posible.
Children do like playing and it has been said that playing is the only thing children taken seriously, they love playing and they are learning while they playing.
So many things we can use to teach English for children. Based on my experiences when I am teaching my students it useful when using some kind of activities like songs, nursery rhyme, pictures, and games.

  • Songs

Begin the class with song
I always begin my class with lead them to some songs and they really interest with this and enjoy the moment. The children will be likely to hear as they grow up because of the " universal nature" of the song in this way. They not only learn a language but also material and culture. By a song we also introduce new lesson. My experience, I use one song  to teach them space ( with potong bebek angsaa lyric) by combining two language English and Bahasa.

The star itu bintang
The moon itu bulan
The cloud itu awan
The sun matahari...(etc)

Its easy but useful for me to teach them something new.

  •  Nursery Rhymes
Practice in nursery

Another medium activity that create amusing atmospher is rhyme. Like so many kind of modified rhymes:
One two take out your book
Three four open the book
Five six read them loud
Seven eight read them soft
Nine ten do it again

  •  Pictures
Picture is good
Certain kinds of ready-made pictures can be use to developed and sustain motivation to produce positive toward English and to teach some language learning skills. Usually I bring pieces of picture and has letter at the bottom named the picture. My students will understand fast about it.

  • Games
Lets  sleep and wake
Using games will be fun for our class. when your students get tired of learning it will be fine if we lead them for playing. in  playing also we will be able to put some material inside. one thing to remember is when they are playing the time they learning so it will be something great if we could combine both material and games.

There are actually still hundreds of  activities  can be used in English teaching language with a little foresight and gain their success . However, careful  planing before teaching is badly needed to get maximum effectiveness.

It is the supreme art of the teacher to awaken joy in creative expression and knowledge.

Taare Zameen Par Every Child is Special

Dekho inhein yeh hai onss ki boodein
Patto ki goodh mein aasamaan se khude
Angdai le phir karwat badal kar
Nazuk se moti hasde phishal kar
Kho na jayee yeh
Taare Zameen par

Yeh toh hai sardi mein
Dhoop ki kirane
Uthre jo aangan ko sunehara sa karne
Maan ke andhero ko roshan sa karde
Thiturti hatheli ki rangat badal de
Kho na jayee yeh
Taare Zameen par
Jaise aankhon ki debiyan mein neediyan
Aur neediyan mein meetha sa sapna
Aur sapne mein mil jaye faristha sa koi
Jaise rango bhari peechkari
Jaise Thitliyan phoolo ki pyari
Jaise bina matlab ka pyaara rista ho koi
Yeh to asha ki lehra hai
Yeh to umeed ki seher hai
Khushiyon ki nehar hai
Kho na jaye yeh
Taare Zameen par
Dekho raaton ke sene pe yeh to
Jhil mil kisi lao se uge hain
Yeh to andiyan ke khushbo hai bhago se beh chale
Jaise kaanch mein chudi ke tukde
Jaise khile khile phoolon ke mukhde
Jaise bansi koi bajaye pedo ke taale
Yeh to jhoke hai pawan ke
Hai yeh gungroo jeevan ke
Yeh to sur hai chaman ke
Kho na jayeee
Taare Zameen par
Mohale ki ronak galiyan hai jaise
Khilne ki zid per kaliyan hai jaise
Muthi mein masam ki jaise hawaein
Yeh hai buzurgo ke dil ki duyaaein
Kho na jayeee
Taare Zameen par
Taare Zameen par
Kabhi baatein jaise dadi naani
Kabhi chale jaise num num pani
Kabhi ban jaye bhole saawalo ki jhadi
Sanate mein hasi ke jaise
Sune hoton pe khushi ke jaise
Yeh to noor hai barse gar pe kismat ho padi
Jaise jhil mein lehar aye chanda
jaise bheed mein apne ka kandha
jaise manmauji nadiya
jhaag udaye kuch kahe
jaise baithe baithe meethi si jhapki
jaise pyar ki dheemi si thapki
jaise kaanon mein sargam
hardam bajti hi rahe
jaise barkha udati hai bundiya…
kho na jaaayeeee yehhhh
Kho na jaayee yehh
kho na jaayee yehh
kho na jaayee yehhhh..
Look at them they are like fresh drops of dew,
They are in the lap of the leaves jumped from the heavens,
They stretch turning over and over,
Tender pearls laugh when they slip and fall.
Hope they don't get lost, these stars on Earth!

They are the rays of sun during winter,
They have come down in gardens to decorate it,
To enlighten the darkness in our hearts,
They give us warmth,
Hope they don't get lost, these stars on Earth!

Like the sleepiness inside those eye-lids,
In those sleep are sweet dreams,
and wish in those dreams we get some sort of an angel,
Like the fountains filled with colors,
Like butterflies upon blossomed flowers,
Like a relationship of selfless love.

They are waves of hope,
They are a dawn of wishes,
Its eternal happiness.
Hope they don't get lost, these Stars on Earth!
.

See they are like on the chest of the nights,
Blossomed like brightness,
They are the fragrance of the orchard,
flows from the gardens,
Like broken bangles on glasses,
Like the face of blossomed flower,
Like somebody plays a flute,
from the trees.

They are breeze of the winds,
yes they are the life in music,
like the rhythm of tunes,
Hope they don't get lost, these stars on Earth!

Like the lighted streets of a locality,
Like a determined bud set to blossom,
Like the seasonal breeze caught in your palms,
They are the blessings of the elders,
Hope they don't get lost, these stars on Earth!

Sometimes sit like grandpa and granny,
Sometimes naughty like the streaming water,
Sometimes create an array of innocent questions,
Like a giggle in grave silence,
like gold lips that smile,
They are the shining stones that shower on you if you are lucky.

Like the moonshine on a lake,
like a known person in a stranger's crowd,
like the falls which froth as if giggling,
like taking a nap as you sit in the noon,
like the cosy touch of love,
like music to the ears that plays forever,
like the drizzling heavens.
